Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born on 1 June 1974. She was born in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek is a female form of the surname her father's name. Georgia is the name of her mother. She has two brothers: Chad along with Wade. As a young girl she began to play the piano. Then, at 21 her first guitar lesson, she was a musician. Alanis made a hit single in 1986, titled Fate Stay With Me (b-side : Find The Right Man). As a Canadian dance-pop artist, she recorded two albums: Alanis (1991), and The Time Is The Time (1992). When she was 18, she made the move from New York to Toronto and her attempts to collaborate with songwriters and musicians failed. They finally found her partner in 1994. Glen Ballard. He had collaborated with other musicians including Aretha, Michael Jackson, and Barbra. She then moved to LA when she was 19 years old. The 13th of June, 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available by Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis was able to find an autobiographical, extremely personal technique for writing songs. JLP was sold to around 30 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling female-oriented album ever. It is also the 3rd most talked about album in history.
